Oh the joy of hot flashes…
Those quick bursts of hot skin and often drenching sweat that last anywhere from 30 seconds to about five minutes. Welcome to the next stage of womanhood and yes they also happen if you’re pre-menopausal.
Your face and neck may turn red, your heart rate may increase and you will most likely feel like you’re catching fire. The exact causes of hot flashes are still unknown, but they are thought to be related to changes in the brain’s thermoregulatory center, which controls heat production and loss, and is influenced by your hormones. During pre-menopause, hormones start acting like a rollercoaster, with progesterone and estrogen levels changing in wide variations. Many lifestyle changes can help you when dealing with these hormonal shifts and one of them is working with essential oils.
This blend below will save you in moments of fire!
8 drops Clary Sage essential oil
6 drops Geranium essential oil
6 drops Peppermint essential oil
¼ cup witch hazel
In a 2-ounce glass spray bottle, add the essential oils and fill the rest of the way with witch hazel. Shake to combine, and spritz onto neck, décolletage, and any area that heats up with hormonal stress.
