Best Drinks For Summer!

It’s high summer time, it’s so easy to get excited about all the fun, sunshine, travel and totally forget about what your body needs!
Speaking for myself, I know I get super excited when the heat is on and it’s so easy for me to either overdue the sun or to forget about hydrating myself.

Remember your body tends to lose water faster due to excessive sweating so I encourage you to take time, daily, and think about how you can replenish and nourish your body, keep yourself hydrated and cool the heat down.

While drinking water is the best and most effective way to keep your body hydrated at all times, I know that you may crave some flavor and taste here and there, so here are few of my favorite summer drinks, that are tasty and flavorful without any added and unwanted ingredients:

1- Homemade Lemonade:
In less than 5 min you can make yourself a pitcher of fresh lemonade. Squeeze a few fresh lemons, add filtered water, a dash of sweetener of choice (Maple syrup is a good choice) and let it cool down in the fridge for 10 min and enjoy!
You can also add fresh Mint or Basil to it.

2- Coconut Water:
It’s sweet enough to delight your sweet tooth, it’s low on calories and Carbs, it’s fat free and high in Potassium which helps remove extra Sodium from your body.
Get them fresh if you can, that’s the best option, but if you have to get packaged ones make sure you read the label and check for added sugar, you want to avoid those, Coconut it’s sweet enough on its own!

3- Watermelon and Basil:
It will not only keep you hydrated but watermelon is packed with nutrients and beneficial plant compounds such as Vitamin A,C, and also a rich source of Citrulline, an Amino Acid that may improve exercise performance.

This recipe makes 12 servings:
1 medium Watermelon flesh, cut into chunks
1 cup fresh lime juice
Fresh Ginger (a medium piece about 2 tablespoons)
Handful of basil leaves (10-15)
4 cups of water filtered water
Blend them and enjoy!
You can pass it through a strainer if you don’t want too much texture.

You can also add a dash of Salt or a dash of sweetener. But if your Watermelon is ripe and ready, it will be sweet enough!

4- Iced Matcha Latte:
If you want that caffeine kick then this one's for you
The basic recipe for a cup of this goodness is pretty straight forward:
2 tsp Matcha powder
2 oz/ 60 ml Water
7oz/ 200 ml Plant Based milk of choice (Coconut, Hemp and Oat do really well)
1 tsp sweetener of choice (I don’t add any, I like to taste the Matcha and the Matcha alone!)
Blend the Match and the water first, then add the milk and mix again.

Give these drinks a try and let me know what you think and once again remember nothing replaces WATER, so while you enjoy these keep your water bottles handy!
